Natures Medicine Unfolded

Happy Thursday Everyone! As I shared with you all last week my views on taking over the counter and prescription medicine from Doctors, I now want to go in depth about Complementary Alternative Medicines and Remedies that can be used (Natures Medicine).

Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Defined: This category of medicines includes a variety of treatment approaches that fall outside the realm of conventional scientific medicine.

The categories of Complementary and Alternative Medicines can be divided into a few different groups:

  • Natural Products: Vitamins, Herbs, Minerals and Probiotics
  • Mind and Body Practices: Acupuncture, Relaxation Techniques, Tai Chi, Yoga
  • Homeopathy: Pill or Liquid mixture that contain a little bit of an active ingredient (usually a plant or mineral).
  • Naturopathy: Physical Manipulation, Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine and Homeopathy)

All of these different forms of Alternative Medicine have been around for decades, however, I believe that they aren’t endorsed much due to the Power the Pharmaceutical Industry has in this country. Also a lot of Natural Medicine cannot be patented, which means why would they promote it? The answer is because there is no money to be made from Big Pharma.

The Alternative Medicine practice I want to focus on today is Natural Products.

Since I started this new journey in my life, I personally have been using Natural Products such as Vitamins and Minerals, as well Homeopathic Remedies suggested by my Naturopath. The Natural Medicine I’ve been using was based on me expressing to my Naturopath that I was constantly feeling tired, I catch colds fairly easily and I have really bad allergies as well as asthma. N.D Suzanne Adams suggested that from the Natural Product side I take: An herb called Cats Claw which grows wild from countries in Central and South America (especially in the Rainforest), Zinc which is an essential mineral and often already found naturally in some foods, and Lemon Balm. Lemon Balm is an herb derived from the Mint family which can be used to calm your mind, boost alertness, powerful antioxidant, etc. My favorite one so far which has already helped me pass a couple of colds that people close to me had is:Colloidal Silver . Colloidal Silver has many benefits (also health risks if you take too much of it) including it’s an Anti-Inflammatory, Antiviral, it can prevent cold/flu and can control sinus infections.

Once again, I am not here to tell you to use all, if any of these options, however I do encourage you to do your own research and possibly go to a Naturopath who is trained in all of these different Alternative Medicine solutions to see if any of them would work best for you and your body. Since using these Natural Products alone, I have never had as much energy as I do now. I’m more productive throughout the day, and I wake up earlier than I used to feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world. I also haven’t gotten a cold since I started using these Natural Products! I genuinely plan on having these in my household for the rest of my life, not for long term use, but whenever it is necessary to take as an option aside from going to a Drug Store.

Remember: If you want to try any of these, it would be suggested to do your own research and maybe even speak with a Doctor or Naturopath about how much you should be taking and how often.

I hope this post opens your mind to being more aware of what you put into your body and all of the different options there are in order to keep your mind and body healthy. This is another step to living a Holistic Life. Have a great day!

Love,

Ayanna Tunsil
